In the home buying process know when to quit and move on

A house is shelter, but a home is far more. It's where you live, entertain, raise your family, relax and work.  A home is where you spend a great deal of your life.

Buying a home is an emotional decision.  95% of the buyers I work with know it is their home the minute they step in the door.  You have to treat the process as a business decision as well.  Your home is an investment, for most of us the largest piece of our portfolio.

When you act on emotion, rather than reason, you may end up paying too much money for that home. This can happen when you get ahead of yourself and fall in love with a particular house and start fantasizing about how great it will be to live there.  Another reason you may be driven to pay too much is a bidding war triggers your competitive instincts and we are having bidding wars again in the under $250K range and your competitive instinct says you must buy the house at all costs — which you will regret later.  Trust me.
